The students from Harrow Hong Kong Children School recently delivered an exceptional performance at the 2024 Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition, making their school the first school in Mainland China to win such an accolade in this international event. The Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition is an annual initiative jointly organized by the Science Centre Singapore and DSO National Laboratories. With strong support from Singapore’s Ministry of Education, the competition aims to inspire and nurture young talents who are poised to envision future technological innovations and STEAM application practices. This year’s edition attracted more than 2,000 participants, with 630 teams from around the world engaging in fierce competition.
One standout performer was Wong Chuen Shing from class 6A, who achieved outstanding results in the distance competition. He recorded an impressive throw of 28.94 meters, earning him the prestigious accolade of “First Place in the Primary School Category Long Distance Project,” presented by the Minister of Defence of Singapore.
During the preparation for the competition, the students leveraged the school’s robust STEAM training resources and the guidance of their teachers to deepen their understanding and practical application of scientific and technological innovation.
This achievement is a remarkable honor for our school, as it marks the first time a mainland Chinese institution has won this category, a feat of extraordinary significance.
